The City of Bellflower supports the goal of clean air and a healthier environment through the reduction of air pollution from motor vehicles. To this end, the City desired to replace its gasoline powered vehicles that had reached the end of their useful life with alternative fuel vehicles.

Project Implementation

The City of Bellflower prepared a CNG vehicle bid specification detailing vehicle design and performance parameters as well as technical quality assurance and warranty requirements. A bid was issued and an award was made to the lowest responsible bidder.

Project Objectives

The objective of the project is to replace five (5) gasoline powered pick-up trucks with five dedicated compressed natural gas (CNG) pick-up trucks. The new CNG trucks will be medium-duty Ford F-150 pick-up trucks with Triton V8, 5.4L, 235 hp CNG engines with a life expectancy of 10 years. Annual mileage is estimated at 6,500 miles.
