Project Background

The City of Garden Grove is committed to the goal of cleaner air and a healthier environment by reducing air pollution from motor vehicles. To this end, the City determined it would purchase alternative fuel vehicles when procuring needed ten medium-duty fleet vehicles. The vehicles will refuel at the Citys corporate yard which is currently in the process of installing a new fast fill CNG station.

Project Implementation

The City entered into a purchase with Wondries Fleet Group of Alhambra, California for the purchase of the vehicles.

Project Objectives

The objective of this project was to purchase ten (10) Ford F-150 pick up trucks with 5.4 liter, 275 hp, V8 compressed natural gas (CNG) engines. Each vehicle has a life expectancy of eight years and estimated annual mileage of 10,000 miles.

On December 2, 2003, the ten trucks were delivered to the City of Garden Grove. The trucks are being used in the Public Works fleet, replacing older gasoline vehicles. The vehicles refuel at the City corporate yard.
