The City of Los Angeles is dedicated to reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and increasing personal mobility. To achieve these goals the City has a number of transit programs including the Downtown and Community Dash transit services. The City first introduced propane-powered vehicles in its paratransit fleet in 1995. In 1998, all new DASH buses were propane-powered.

All bidding and purchasing was conducted per City purchasing guidelines and administrative guidelines.
The objective of the project was to purchase five (5) El Dorado EZ low floor, 30 transit buses equipped with 5.9L 195 hp propane engines. The life expectancy of the vehicles is 12 years with use of approximately 300,000 miles per year per vehicle. The vehicles will be used as part of the Citys DASH transit service.
The propane vehicles have been delivered and placed into service.
