FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR CITIES IN SAN BERNARDINO/RIVERSIDE COUNTIES TO PURCHASE CLEAN FUEL VEHICLES, FUELING STATIONS

Cities located in San Bernardino and Riverside counties considering the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles or the installation of refueling stations are encouraged to apply for match funding available from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). The MSRC is a government group that funds transportation-related clean air projects in the Southland.

“Cities can stretch their dollars by applying for matching funds to purchase clean fuel cars and publicly accessible refueling stations,” said William Kleindienst, MSRC chairman and mayor of Palm Springs. “The deadline to apply is April 8 so cities thinking about purchasing clean fuel vehicles need to apply soon.”

A minimum of $300,000 is allocated for projects in each of the South Coast Basin’s four counties including Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside. Both Los Angeles and Orange counties have already maximized their available funding. However, $190,000 remains available for cities in Riverside County with $290,000 available for cities in San Bernardino County.

“We encourage cities in the Inland Empire to take advantage of money that is available to help transition to cleaner city fleets, and to install the needed refueling infrastructure,” said Kleindienst.
