CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO KICKS OFF RIDESHARE 2 RAILS PROGRAM

With the goal of reducing traffic, air pollution and parking congestion, the City of San Bernardino is implementing a Rideshare 2 Rails program at the San Bernardino Metrolink Station. The City was awarded a $24,000 grant from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Committee (MSRC) for the program.

In partnership with the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG), and the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), the program offers incentives to participants who agree to share their ride to the San Bernardino station. Incentives include designated parking, a one-time $165 discount on a Metrolink monthly pass, and a bonus discount of $50 on a pass for each new participant recruited to enroll in the program.

Mayor Judith Valles said: “I applaud these kinds of incentives that foster quality of life for our residents and commuters. The rideshare incentive reduces congestion on our busy freeways, especially during these construction times, and Metrolink offers a great opportunity to maximize commuting time by taking care of bookwork, reading or just unwinding after a busy day.”
