The March edition of the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee's (MSRC) electronic newsletter Clean Air Roadmap features an in-depth profile on Larry McCallon, the MSRC's newest member and Mayor of the City of Highland. Highlights of clean air projects by two of the MSRC's project partners - the City of Fullerton and the City of Santa Ana - are also featured. The City of Fullerton benefitted from the MSRC's Clean Transportation Funding with the construction of a new CNG fueling center and the purchase two heavy-duty natural gas vehicles, as well participating in a pilot bike share program. The City of Santa Ana received more than $500,000 from the MSRC to help implement its Green Facilities, Fleet Management and Central Stores Strategic Plan designed to transform 75 to 80% of the City's fleet of more than 900 vehicles into a line-up of cars, trucks and equipment powered by sustainable and renewable energy source.
The newsletter's Facts-at-a-Glance looks at the public health implications of increased vehicle miles traveled and the benefits of public transit use and other alternative modes of transportation.
