Prior to the procurement of the two new buses, the Sunshine Shuttle service used two 2006, 30-foot El Dorado EZ Rider II low floor buses. The 2006 vehicles are ADA-compliant and can each accommodate 25 passengers with two wheelchair positions or a maximum of 29 seated passengers. The vehicles are propane-powered and each vehicle has more than 300,000 miles.

The new vehicles were placed into service on April 2, 2013. Minor warranty issues have been properly handled by the contractor and resolved within an acceptable period of time.
The project was for the purchase of two, 35-foot CNG-fueled buses for the Sunshine Shuttle service to replace its existing service vehicles. The two 2013 El Dorado Axess buses will alleviate current overcrowding during the morning and afternoon peak hours.
The vehicles are currently in operation on the Sunshine Shuttle service in South Whittier.
