The City of Lakewood prepared and issued a bid package. An award was made to the lowest responsible bidder.
The purpose of this project was to install two Fuel Maker compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations at two field operations locations within the City and to purchase four alternative fuel vehicles to replace aging gasoline powered vehicles. New vehicles include two Ford F-150 dedicated CNG pick-up trucks, one Ford E-350 dedicated CNG cargo van, and one Ford E-450 dedicated CNG Cutaway van with utility box.
The Fuel Makers have been installed at the Citys field operations locations at Arbor Road and Nixon Street. The Arbor Road location houses a compressor capable of slow filling six vehicles at a time and the Nixon Street facility can accommodate 10 vehicles at a time. Both locations house a 30-gallon fast fill unit capable of dispensing 15 gallons to be used as emergency back up. Vehicles are in service.
