Don't Miss the MSRC's Summer E-Newsletter

The latest edition of the MSRC's electronic newsletter Clean Air Roadmap has some exciting articles about what has been happening lately with the MSRC. The 2015 Special Olympics World Games are in town and the MSRC is helping athletes and country delegates travel via clean transportation to competition venues. Thanks to the MSRC, the Special Olympics is operating more than 280 CNG buses to transport participants throughout the nine days of the games. Another exciting development for the MSRC is the addition of its newest member - Erik White. Erik is the Division Chief for the Mobile Source Control Division of the California Air Resources Board. Erik brings his knowledge of statewide programs and policies to reduce mobile source emissions to the MSRC, which will help the Committee find innovative ways to leverage its funding with other clean air programs. Over the years, active transportation, like bicycling and walking, has been viewed more and more as a fundamental component to reducing emissions from mobile sources. The MSRC has been a part of this trend by funding bicycle programs for many years. A recent project by the City of Palm Springs to build on the importance of bicycling as an alternative mode of transportation is highlighted in the newsletter with the city's Bicycle Friendly Business District Program.
