DIAMOND BAR, Calif., (June 6, 2002) Representatives from cities, private firms and government agencies got together on June 5 to learn how to create media and public awareness for their clean air projects. Topics covered included everything from how to deal with the media to creating a press kit.
Guest speakers included Captain Jim Schiller from the Ontario Fire Department who talked to the group about his experience publicizing the department’s bike patrol at the Ontario Mills Mall. Reporters, including Lee Peterson, staff writer for the Daily Breeze and Carolyn Whetzel, west coast reporter for the BNA Newsletter, gave the attendees their perspectives on how to work with the media.
This is the second year the MSRC has held an outreach seminar to help clean air advocates gain recognition for their projects.
