Project Background

Contractor established a shuttle service to provide transportation between Metrolink rail stations and Blue and Green Line terminals and employment sites in Southeast Los Angeles County. The shuttle served communities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Huntington Park, Monterey Park, South Gate, Vernon and portions of unincorporated Los Angeles County. Service actually began on March 17, 1997 with a Grand Opening held at the Commerce Metrolink station.

Project Implementation

The shuttle service concentrated on the communities listed above which were adjacent to the Metrolink Green Line and Blue Line.

Project Results Description

Reduction in vehicle miles traveled was recorded at approximately 788,000. The corresponding total project emissions reductions are as follows: Reactive Organic Gases (ROG), 6,421 pounds; Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), 3,883 pounds, and Particulate Matter (PM10), 485 pounds.
