The City of La Habra is committed to preserving the environment and reducing air pollution through the use of alternative fuel vehicles. As the City expands its fleet it desires to purchase alternative fuel vehicles to meet its goals. To this end, the City determined it would upgrade its existing compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station to provide better service to its fleet vehicles.

The City entered into a contract with S-W Compressors to construct the station.
The objective of this project was to install a rebuilt Dual Fuel model 55-22 H20NG compressor capable of delivering 3600 psig CNG, install and pre-plumb six slow-fill posts with the first two being fully completed delivery sites with two (2) 20 foot hoses per post. The site location will be at the Citys Public Works facility at 621 W. Lambert Road. The site will be a limited access site for City fleet vehicles only.
The station was complete in March 2003. At the time of this report, the City of La Habra was in the process of purchasing compressed natural gas fleet vehicles. The project was constructed in three phases. The first phase involved removing the existing compressor from the site and rebuilding it with all new parts. In the second phase, the Citys maintenance crew trenched a distance of 80 feet for the underground electrical and natural gas piping. The contractor installed the six fueling posts. The third phase consisted of installing the rebuilt CNG compressor. The Gas Company then installed the meter and gas line to the compressor. No major problems or setbacks occurred during the project.
