Contract Number
S0132
MSRC Award
$21,000.00
Project Background

The Riverside County Waste Management Department (RCWMD) determined that additional infrastructure was needed to serve the needs of on road heavy-duty fleets using alternative fuels including those within the waste disposal industry. RCWMDs Aqua Mansa fuel station is the second station to be constructed in Riverside County. After consulting with LNG fueling station developers and preparing preliminary plans RCWMD applied for funding support from various agencies to design and construct the station.

A RFP for turnkey design/build services was awarded to General Physics Corporation.

Project Objectives

The purpose of this project was to construct a publicly accessible liquid natural gas (LNG) station. The station will provide a vital link in the LNG infrastructure along the Interstate Clean Transportation Corridor (ICTC) and will allow Riverside to continue as a transportation hub for its industrially zoned areas.

Project Status Description

The Aqua Mansa LNG Fuel Station began operating on October 21, 2002. The site is easily accessible from I-10, I-60, and State Highway 91. The LNG station serves the immediate needs of Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. and will allow for convenient fueling for over-the-road LNG trucks traveling through the Inland Empire. The LNG station is publicly accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A summary, discussion of work performed, and conclusions can be found in the Final Report for this project.
