The City of Redondo Beach fully supports the regional goals of clean air and recognizes the value that clean air has in benefiting the health of its citizens and improving the quality of life in Redondo Beach. To this end, the City will replace two of its aging gasoline powered fleet vehicles with alternative fuel vehicles.

The City prepared and issued a bid package for the vehicles. An award was made to the lowest responsible bidder.
The objective of the project was to purchase two Tymco Regenerative Street Sweepers powered with Cummins ISB 5.9, 195 hp compressed natural gas (CNG) engines. The vehicles have a life expectancy of fifteen years based upon an estimated use of 13,000 miles per year and a total of 2,500 annual hours of operation. The sweepers will be replacing two older gasoline powered sweepers
