The City of Villa Park fully supports the goals of clean air and a healthier environment through the purchase and use of alternative fuel vehicles. Villa Park currently operates of fleet of four vehicles one of which is a compressed natural gas (CNG) medium-duty pick-up truck.

The City of Villa Park prepared and issued a bid package for the vehicle. An award was made to the lowest responsible bidder.
The objective of the project is to purchase a second alternative fuel vehicle, a medium-duty Ford F-150 pick up truck equipped with a 5.4L 225 hp CNG engine. The vehicle has a life expectancy of nine years based upon an estimated 8,000 miles per year. The vehicle will be used in the Citys Public Works department performing routine functions such as tree trimming and litter removal.
Vehicle is in service. The City reports that it is pleased with its two CNG vehicles. As the City is a bird sanctuary, the alternative fuel vehicles help reduce the harmful effects of pollutants emitted by gasoline vehicles and help protect the environment.
