The City of Ontario has operated a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station since 1994. With a total of 50 dispensers, the station is capable of dispensing 7,000 equivalent gallons per day. The station is available for public and private use and is available to any one who wants to participate in a clean fuels program. Ontario currently operates 62 CNG vehicles ranging from light duty pick-up trucks to commercial refuse trucks. The City is in partnership with the Ontario Montclair School District and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District to purchase fuel from the City.

The City entered into a contract with Doty Brothers Equipment Company to manage the design and construction of the project.
The purpose of this project is to upgrade the Citys existing compressed natural gas (CNG) station with the addition of a CNG gas dryer and an emergency generator sized to provide electric power for the CNG station in the event of a loss of electric power.
The City of Ontario has completed its upgrades to the Station. With these upgrades the City hopes to keep up with the demands from the public and additional CNG vehicles added to its fleet and provide electric power for the CNG station in case of loss of electric power. The project also added an additional gas dryer for the new compressor that will maintain and guarantee high quality fuel.
