The City contracted for the design and engineering of the station as well as assistance in bid preparation and construction. City staff found it necessary to rebid the project several times; each time fine tuning the plans and specifications. The final Notice Inviting Bids resulted in four bids within the project budget.
The scope of the project was to increase the amount of storage capacity by adding a storage vessel, installing a gas recirculating dryer to extract all impurities in the CNG when dispensed into vehicles, providing a fueling dispenser to fill 3600 psi vehicles, and shelter to the machinery.
The project has increased the amount of natural gas that is available for the City and the outside agencies that utilize the station. The new equipment can service both 3000 and 3600 - psi vehicles and also supports eight slow-fill dispensers for transit buses The Final Report includes a summary and conclusions on this project.
The expansion is complete and the station is operational.
