The 1993-'94 Caltrans Team Rideshare/Rideshare Thursday campaign was updated and modified to an expanded theme of "Pick a Day, Any Day". The purpose of the campaign was to raise the awareness of ridesharing and motivate commuters to call 1-800-COMMUTE or acces the newly launched ridematch.info website. Callers to the toll free number, or those who accessed the website, were able to obtain information on ridesharing alteratives to solo vehicle driving. The campaign included produced radio spots, traffic reporter scripts, bus side placards, and newspaper advertising. The public awareness campaign ran from September 2003 and again in January, 2004. A pre- and post-advertising survey was conducted that showed significant increases in awareness of ridesharing and key advertising phrases. The number of calls to 1-800-COMMUTE from September 2003 through February 2004 increased by approximately 18.7%. The campaign also promoted the ridematch.info website, which received 67,945 visits and 35,906 visitors from September 2003 through February 2004.
