The Fairplex Park and Ride Lot provides commuters with a safe and convenient place to park their cars so that they may commute to work by carpooling or by using public transportation. The lot consists of two parking lots, one on 13 acres and the other on 0.8 acre. The smaller lot is typically used for vanpools.

The contract was awarded to the lowest responsive bidder, C.S. Legacy Construction, Inc., on February 13, 2007. Construction commenced on April 24, 2007, and was completed on August 30, 2007.
The purpose of the Fairplex Park and Ride Lot Improvement project was to update and enhance this lot by paving and restriping the asphalt as well as installing new fencing, lighting, landscaping, signage, bicycle lockers, and other amenities.
Many improvements were made to the Fariplex Park and Ride Lot including resurfacing and restriping the pavement and replacing curbs, vehicle stops and medians. The old chain link fencing was removed and replaced with a steel fence. Non-native vegetation was replaced with native drought-tolerant vegetation. New signage was placed at the Via Verde Park and Ride Lot to inform users of the availability of the Fariplex Park and Ride Lot. Following the completion of the improvements, the average daily users increased from 220 per day to 280 per day, resulting in a 27 percent increase in usage. Prior to the beginning of the rehabilitation project, lot utilization averaged 40 percent. Following the completion of the improvement project, lot utilization averaged 51 percent.
