Rossmoor Pastries desired to do its share to reduce pollutants contributing to air pollution in the South Coast Air Basin. After much thought, Rossmoor Pastries decide to "go green" by purchasing an entire fleet of CNG vehicles consisting of eleven trucks and one car. To fuel its fleet, the bakery also installed a CNG fueling station to allow convenient fueling of the CNG trucks that deliver its pastries, cakes, and sweets.

The CNG Refueling Station was constructed by S-W Compressors, JB Construction, and Tom's Construction. The station consists of a C-140 Bauer Compressor producing 14 SCFM from an inlet pressure of 5 psi. It also includes three (3) dual time fill posts with 2 hoses each on retractable hose reels to allow as many as 6 vehicles to refuel overnight.
The objective of this project was to install a limited access CNG Refueling Station including compressor and three fill posts at the Rossmoor Pastries bakery located at 2325 Redondo Avenue, Signal Hill, California.
Rossmoor Pastries states that it is one of the first private fleets in Long Beach to go forward with natural gas vehicles. The bakery purchased its first CNG van at auction and was very pleased with its performance. This led to the purchase of ten more CNG vans and a Crown Victoria, as well as the installation of the CNG fueling station. Charles Feder, owner of Rossmoor Pastries, states that this is an opportunity to do his part to leave his grandchildren a better environment to live in.
The limited access CNG Refueling Station is complete and operational.
