The City of Riverside found that the age and condition of some of its busy municipal service fleet necessitated replacement of the vehicles. Through the MSRC funding source the City of Riverside was granted an award of $200,000 in funding to assist in replacing the aging vehicles.

To replace eight aging diesel fuel heavy duty service vehicles with clean fuel vehicles.
The City of Riverside was able to replace all eight vehicles with clean burning CNG vehicles thus reducing South Coast Air Basin NOx emissions by 1.950 tons per year and PM reductions by 0.164 tons per year. In addition the purchase of the eight CNG vehicles has resulted in an average savings of approximately $385,000 in fuel costs since being placed into service.
