This project has been completed. The truck was purchased in November 2008 from the Carmenita Truck Center, located in Santa Fe Springs.
The objective of the project was to purchase a CNG heavy duty vehicle which can assist in meeting the varied needs of the City of La Habra Public Works Department. The Department provides various services to residents including refuse collection, street sweeping, street maintenance, water and sewer maintenance and other special projects as needed.
There is potential to further develop the City's utilization of CNG fuel by pursuing a future AQMD/MSRC grant to upgrade the City's current CNG fuel station. Additional CNG vehicles may be purchased in the future as vehicle replacements become necessary.
The vehicle is of tremendous benefit to the La Habra Public Works Department due to its versatility. It can be customized to perform various types of functions. It can serve as a 10-yard dump truck, a flatbed/tow truck and a 30-yard bin loader. There are other bed options available as well which can further increase its versatility. Due to this purchase, the City has been saved the expense of buying multiple vehicles to meet the various work demands that arise on a daily basis.
There were no other sponsors involved with the purchase of the CNG heavy duty vehicle.
