Project Background

This procurement included the purchase of two Heavy Duty CNG fueled transit buses. The actual procurement process started in 2009 with the acknowledgement of an MTA Mini Call and MTA managed grant award to the City. MSRC awarded, on a reimbursement basis, the maximum allowed for our bus procurement in an amount of $50k.

Project Implementation

The CNG buses were in operation in October 2010 and have been taken out of service only to have them wrapped with the City's new "Healthy Urban Bus" theme.

Project Objectives

The overall objective is to reduce NOx emissions by 30% by replacing two of our oldest fleet buses with CNG fueled buses.

Project Results Description

Our buses has resulted in an overall benefit to our transit system and our joint procurement of two replacment CNG buses Dial-A-Ride buses will help us exceed our goal of our 30% NOx emissions reduction.
