The new heavy-duty 55-foot insulating aerial truck was purchased from Truck Hydraulic Equipment Company of Fontana, CA. and was put into service by the Electrical Division. It is equipped with the Cummins ISLG 300 CNG engine.
Per the City of Azusa's policy for incorporating alternative fuel vehicles into its light, medium, and heavy duty fleets, the new vehicle is to be equipped with a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine.
The City of Azusa Light & Water Dept. is currently in process of adding an additional Hybrid/CNG heavy-duty aerial truck to the Electrical Division fleet.
This project will reduce oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions by approximately 54.2 pounds per year. This equates to approximately 488 pounds of NOx reduced over the vehicle's projected nine year life.
