Disneyland Resorts operates several attractions and supporting equipment at their Theme Park on compressed natural gas (CNG). To allow the conversion of their guest trams to CNG, the existing station was relocated and expanded. The expanded CNG station will support the refueling needs of twelve (12) guest trams, two (2) Main Street buses, four (4) guest buses, three (3) Tom Sawyer Island rafts, the Columbia Sailing Ship attraction, and the Fantasmic! Show. In addition, Disneyland has several emergency generators that are configured to operate on CNG in lieu of diesel fuel.

The project included the demolition of an existing CNG station at the Resort Transportation Service Center, and the temporary shutdown of CNG systems near the Circle D Ranch. The new expanded CNG station was installed at the Resort Transportation Service Center.
The expanded refueling station incorporates two (2) 150 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) compressors and six (6) 12,000 standard cubic feet of natural gas storage. The guest trams and buses are refueled at a dispensing island equiped with two refueling hoses.
In addition to the relocation and expansion of the CNG station, the gas supply and electrical service for the station were upgraded to accomodate the larger compressors and CNG conditioning equipment.
The objective of this project was to relocate and expand the existing CNG station at the Disneyland Resort to accomodate conversion of existing diesel vehicles and attactions to CNG. The additional capacity allowed Disney to convert twelve existing guest trams and four guest buses to CNG. These vehicles were previously diesel fueled vehicles.
The expanded CNG throughput is estimated at 15.7 million cubic feet per year - an increase of 7.3 million cubic feet per year. This represents a diesel fuel displacement of approximately 48,000 gallons per year.
The project was fully installed and operational as of August 2009.
