Pupil Transportation Cooperative was serving the student transportation needs of 6 Whittier area school districts. With the adddition of a seventh member school district to the transportation cooperative in July, 2008, 7 CNG buses were added to the fleet. MSRC awarded $10,500 to the Agency to help finance an expansion of the fueling infrastructure to fuel the new buses on-site.

Herbert Burnett of Burnett & Burnette was retained to provide engineering, design and project management services for the project. An RFP for the project was issued and awarded to Allsup Corporation, the lowest most responsible bidder. The new system was accepted by the project manager and successfully placed in operation on April 3, 2009.
The objective was to procure and install 4 dual-fill time fill posts to allow on-site fueling of 7 new CNG buses added to the fleet.
The project has been successfully completed. CNG buses emit 90% less carbon monoxide, 60% less particulate matter, 50% fewer oxides of nitrogen and 20% less carbon dioxide than equivalent diesel vehicles, resulting in a reduction in the exposure of children to toxic diesel particulate matter and smog-formiong pollutants.
The expanded station underwent final inspection and approval on April 30, 2009. All work was accepted as complete and satisfactory. No issues related to refueling operations have been encountered to date.
