The existing project consisted of several modifications to the existing station. New electric service was installed to connect the new compressor to the controller units, including new individual circuit breakers for each compressor. The additional compressor also required construction of a new concrete foundation.
The purpose of this project was to upgrade the existing Torrance USD CNG refueling station with additional CNG compression capability. The existing CNG compression capacity was insufficient to allow overnight refueling of the 15 CNG buses operated by Torrance USD.
The new CNG compressor allows the overnight refueling of 15 CNG buses operated by Torrance USD. This upgraded refueling capability allowed Torrance USD to scrap four 1988 model year diesel buses and replace them with new, CNG-fueled low emission school buses.
The installation of the new compressor is complete and operating in daily service. To date, no issues have been encountered.
