Temecula Valley Unified School District operates a time-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station at its transportation facility located at 40516 Roripaugh Road in Temecula, CA. The initial CNG station configuration allowed simultaneous refueling of eight (8) school buses. This project increased the capacity of the refueling station, allowing the simultaneous refueling of up to 18 CNG school buses. The School District currently operates a fleet of 20 CNG school buses.

The CNG refueling station expansion project consisted of adding ten new time-fill refueling posts and nozzles. The project also installed a new fill timer and a new inline filter system. The new configuration allows for the simultaneous refueling of 18 CNG school buses.
The objective of this project was to partner with the Temecula Valley Unified School District to expand the capacity of their existing CNG refueling station. The refueling station expansion allowed Temecula Valley Unified to expand the number of low-emission CNG school buses operated by the District. To date, Temecula Valley Unified has replaced 20 pre-1994 diesel school buses with 20 new CNG school buses.
The CNG throughput for the station has increase 315% as a result of the expansion project. The average monthly CNG throughput is approximately 7,150 therms; this displaces approximately 5,147 gallons of diesel fuel each month.
The project commenced in January 2013 and was completed on April 17, 2013. No significant technical or programmatic issues were encountered - an approximately three week delay was encountered during manufacture of the dispenser hose posts; however, the overall project was still completed ahead of schedule.
